Who has god spoke to?
I'll give three example of power-hungry people who have given god as an excuse for their actions, please go through them one by one. 1. Samuel (kill the children and infants). 1Sam 15:2-3 2. Muhammad (create a new religion and, proffer a god who brags...

In genesis 32:25, god could not overcome Jacob, how come?
I don't want to hear that Jacob wrestled with an angel, the subtitle heading is; "Jacob Wrestles With God" And also; 32:28 Then the man said, Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[f] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have...

If you remember, the entire thing was a prefiguring of God and Israel (which is why he named him Israel, which means "strives with God" ), and at the end of the night, God simply touched him and knocked his hip out of place.
It was God's choice to allow....

Is the god of the bible/tanakh/quran a humane god or a human one?
Many websites show how the quran incites muslims to kill, but the OT is just like the quran in this point. I don't see any humanity in the OT, all I read is racism and how it was ok to murder the other tribes. Are these religions just apologies for their...

This is just about the same topic you posted elsewhere.
Why do you keep asking the same questions? Quote: : Many websites show how the quran incites muslims to kill, but the OT is just like the quran in this point.

Is there a peaceful religion?
Why do the holy books of the Abrahamic/Ibrahimic religions use god/allah to justify cruelty towards other humans? I'll use two examples; 1. The bible: 1Sam 15:2-3 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'I have noted what Amalek did to Israel in opposing them on...

What is the number of the beast?
I remember reading about bar codes and 666 and then heard about Russians complaining about bar codes being used in their tax forms. I have since heard that the oldest manuscripts cite the number of the beast as 616. What is the # of the beast?

A general theological question.
Do educated christians and jews really believe in demonic possession, and do educated muslims really believe in jinn?
Started by Dionyshish on Saturday, February 26, 2011
I don't think I know any Jews who believe in demonic possession.
Do you mean something like a dybbuk? I find it hard to believe many people actually believe in that sort of thing today.
Could be a few I guess.
In the Gospels, Jesus is busy casting out....

Where in Genesis does it state that the serpent is Satan?
Until the last book of the NT there is no link between the serpent of the first book of the OT and Satan, is this a case of Chinese whispers? Genesis 3:14 shows that the serpents punishment was to be more cursed than other livestock (not other angels)...

It doesn't.
'Mr.
Snake' is described as more shrewd or clever than all the other animals.
Kind of weird if its actually talking about a supposed fallen angel that had yet to be mentioned.

Did Eve's First Response to the Serpent Betray a Sinful Attitude?
Eve responds to the Serpents query (or accusation) in two parts. First, she assures him, We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden (3:2). Her words are almost identical to Gods statement to Adam in 2:16, except she leaves out the infinite absolute...

God must be incompetent
If god was the creator/designer of man, then he is solely responsible for the resulting outcome of his design. Just like a computer programmer who designs a program. If something goes wrong with the program, it is not the fault of the program, but rather...
